Who We Are

Charm City Roller Girls, LLC was formed in 2005. What began as a few girls meeting at a Skateland on Sunday and Thursday nights soon became an organized league of over 80 dedicated women. Inspired by other leagues in New York, Philadelphia, Texas and all over the United States, CCRG quickly devised a strategy to become Maryland's premiere all-woman, flat-track roller derby league. Almost immediately, the city of Baltimore took notice. And how could they not?

Today's modern roller girl is vastly different from those made famous in movies like “Kansas City Bomber” and “Whip it.” Charm City Roller Girls is proud to be represented by women from all over the Baltimore/DC area, each of whom is as unique as the city itself. While we pride ourselves on being athletes, we are also activists, mothers, teachers, artists, writers and much, much more. Every skater brings something indispensable to the league, and together we plan to make roller derby the most exciting thing to hit Charm City since the crab cake.

Our league is comprised of four intraleague teams: The Mobtown Mods, The Junkyard Dolls, The Night Terrors and Speed Regime. These four teams are comprised of all CCRG league skaters and bout each other in our home season at DuBurns Arena in Canton.

Our league also has two interleague teams: The Charm City All Stars and Female Trouble, our B-Team. League skaters must try out for the All Star team, but Female Trouble is open to any home team skater. Both of these teams play bouts at home and away against teams from around the world.

Charm City Roller Girls is PROUD to be a
skater-owned and operated organization.

We are also members of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, the current governing body for competitive flat-track roller derby.

What does it mean to be skater-owned and operated? Our league runs entirely on the work of our skaters and other league members. Every bout and event you attend, every poster you see, and every skill on the track is a product of hours of behind the scenes work of our committees.

We are a solid force to be reckoned with…WE ARE THE CHARM CITY ROLLER GIRLS!

2014 Summer Tryouts

Want to be a Charm City Roller Girl?

The next open tryout is Saturday, March 1, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Skateland North Point, 1113 North Point Road, Dundalk, MD 21222.

This three-hour intensive tryout is the first opportunity in 2014 for females 18 or older to join our league of prestigious athletes. The cost to tryout is $20 per person at the door. Skaters will be assessed throughout the event and given feedback; positive results could culminate in an invitation to join the league.

We would ask interested candidates to prepare to commit to the entire tryout session. Prior to participating, all skaters must sign a waiver of liability and have full protective gear, which includes: elbow and knee pads, wrist guards, a helmet, and a mouth guard. Quad roller skates are also required.
